Sixteen Degree Studio was started by Kelly Doyle and Stephanie Vermeulen to practice refreshing, thoughtful architecture. Stephanie and Kelly grew up in Toronto, built their careers in the city and have worked side by side for more than a decade. Together they create clean, timeless projects, with a hint of playfulness. The practice prides itself on being organized and personable. The team listens to their clients, earnestly asks questions and is enthusiastic about their work.

Kelly Doyle, Principal

Born in Toronto, Canada, Kelly completed a Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies Degree at Dalhousie University's School of Architecture in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Kelly developed strong project management skills while working with Kohn Shnier architects on projects of varying sizes, including institutional, commercial, retail and single family dwellings. Her experience with municipal applications and her pragmatic problem solving skills ensure that projects are realized to the best of their potential. Kelly's passion for good, timeless built design is complimented by her love of running which takes her through the streets and trails of Toronto and to race in locations around the world. 

Stephanie Vermeulen, Principal

Stephanie graduated from the University of Waterloo with a professional M.Arch Degree. Through her studies she had the opportunity to study in Rome and work for architectural firms in Amsterdam and London.

Upon graduating, she worked at Grimshaw Architects at their London office on a new visitor's centre at the Eden Project and the Stansted Airport Masterplan. She later returned to Toronto and began working with Kohn Shnier architects. It was here that she worked on multi-unit and single family residential projects. Stephanie's keen attention to detail and her strong design sensibility help clients achieve and exceed their project's vision.
